About My Life

Rob and Kim Bernabe

This is me with my best friend and mate for life, Kim.

So What Makes Me Tick?

First and most importantly, my faith and my family. These are my primary passions and I do my best to hold myself responsible to them. I believe in the American family and I’m dedicated to making my marriage all it can be. Kim and I are “in it to win it”.

How About “Work”?

Work isn’t a “four letter word” for me. My work is an extension of who I am. Since I like being me, I love my work.

I have no interest in being known for what I do. I see work as an opportunity to connect with others – as a platform to interact with people and upon which to make a difference. Work to me is about humanity.

What Ticks me off is What Gets my Goat

I feel like our country is 3,000 miles wide and, from a financial education standpoint, only an inch deep. Take a minute and think about what we learned in school about operating household finances. We pretty much learned how to spend money – and borrow it if we didn’t have enough to buy what we wanted.

We were prepared to work – spend money – work – spend money – work – spend money……well, you get the point.

Why “Mind Your Own Mortgage?

Because how we’ve been trained to think about mortgage debt really gets my goat. We’re talking about your largest debt – and your home: the most significant asset for most of us. The problem is “assets” only become assets when we own them free and clear.

We’re at the mercy of the industry, and after years of trying to change things for the better on the “other side”, I decided it was time to reverse engineer my dream – because consumers acting en mass have a real shot at meaningful change rather than just one mortgage company.

Through unfortunate circumstance, consumers are asleep at the switch – but I’m living to turn on the flood lights. It’s like my life’s work has culminated with my finger at the switch – and I’m flipping the circuit.  Illuminating the truth about mortgage debt – how to shop for it, manage it and eliminate it – is my passion and I’m not going to quit until I’ve had the chance to speak into every homeowner and potential howenowner’s ear. No one will be left behind!

The Other Stuff

My Family in the Eastern Sierra

Besides inciting a consumer-led revolution of the mortgage industry, I spend time with my wife, children and friends enjoying the blessings that come with each day (and enduring the trials the best I know how). I love pretty much anything with four wheels and a V8 in it and I dig dirt bikes. Camping, exploring nature and setting forth on an myriad of impulsive adventures makes the blood pump through my veins. The first hour and last hour of sunlight are my favorite parts of the day – when in the West we are often treated to spectacular skies.

We live in an amazing country – I’m thankful to be an American and I’m grateful for those that have fought for the freedom we enjoy.

One Last Thing

My dog is great. If only I could be the person he thinks I am.
